OUR STUDIO

The studio is the result of the strengths and aspirations of Pablo, Álvaro and Gustavo Paniagua, who started working together in 2003, each contributing the value of their  professional training and expertise; Pablo as a decorator, Álvaro as a business manager and Gustavo as an architect.

With no other goal but to seek rigour in the aesthetic and compositional criteria and quality of the final project, the studio has embraced projects with a variety of approaches over the years; residential, commercial or ephemeral spaces, encompassing the whole process of the technical and creative design from the architectural project through to aspects of a strictly decorative nature.

Aspects such as comfort, ergonomics or energy efficiency always go hand in hand with the aesthetic ideals developed in projects that encompass different visual languages in cities so diverse as Madrid, London, Seville, Santo Domingo, Geneva, Marrakesh, Barcelona, San Francisco or Malaga.

After an initial stage working next to the Puerta de Alcalá monument in Madrid, the studio, which comprises a solid team of professionals in architecture and design, is now located in the heart of the Barrio de las Letras neighbourhood, in one of the turrets of the Trinitarias de San Ildefonso y San Juan de Mata Convent. The monastery is the main architectural landmark in this neighbourhood and was built in the XVII century, following the aesthetic dictums that prevail in other parts of the Habsburg area of the capital known as Madrid de los Austrias. Miguel de Cervantes himself rests by choice beneath the church chancel.

Nothing would be possible without Malaga or the people I have around me.

In a world in which the most diverse aesthetic influences and references are at our fingertips, it would have been easy to get carried away, but nothing is further from the truth. Everything, absolutely everything, each piece, each colour, each shape, everything could be summed up as Malaga. Light, colour, mass, void, geometry, uproar, order, confusion, music. Endless seas of olive trees, sunsets resembling burnt embers, huge moons resting on the beaches. Painted caves, temples, circuses and theatres, citadels, cathedrals and motorways, convents and airports. Phoenicians, Romans, Christians, Moors and Flamenco singers, all to be found in Malaga.

An infinite array of different forms of beauty is possible. And from these, the favourites, the most sublime, the impromptu and unrehearsed. Sumptuous pure whites of the houses, or the silent hidden courtyards, all of which seem to have emanated without human intervention. The beauty of aged orange trees, solitary plant pots, or that of spring festivals which by themselves embellish and enthral. That of Andalusian women, my aunts, my grandmothers, my mother, who taught me without knowing it and whom I unwittingly learn from each day.

And nothing would be possible without the efforts of those people who are holders of ancient and often lost wisdom. Masters of almost magical skills, often as mysterious as lost in time. Who, with their hands, shape the most disparate thoughts, transforming the simplest objects into the greatest works of art that man is capable of creating.

Pablo Paniagua is a History of Art graduate (Malaga University), holds a Diploma in Interior Architecture (Polytechnic University of Madrid) and a Master´s Degree in Decorative Arts (University of la Sapienza in Rome)
